October/November Newsletter

FRIENDSHIP QUILTERS’ NEWSLETTER
October/November 2008

Guild Blog
Thanks to Chris Daly for her hard work setting up a blog for Friendship Quilters. You can go to http://friendshipquiltguild.blogspot.com/ to check out our blog. To find the e-mail address (Click on “see complete profile” to find an e-mail link. Chris will use info sent to her at this e-mail address, friendshipquiltguild@gmail.com, to update the information regarding upcoming guild meetings, current newsletters and a link to quilting events. Any information sent to the blog will be forwarded to Linda or the current president.

October 27 Guild Meeting
Linda will be teaching “Shattered Images” at the October meeting. Each guild member wanting to participate should bring their sewing machine, rotary mat, rotary cutter, basic sewing supplies and 4 fabric panels or fabric with 4 repeats to the pattern. Linda cautions that using animals may produce a “freakish” result.

Block-of-the-Month
The block-of-the-month for October is “leaves”. Anyone wishing to take part should make a leaf block that is 12 ½” square. For each block submitted, the person will get his/her name entered into a drawing to win all the blocks submitted. Hope you all “fall” for this one!

President’s Quilt
Guild members are asked to make a 10 ½” crazy quilt block for Linda’s President’s Quilt. Any color or multiple colors may be used for the block. Linda has asked that everyone use 100% cotton fabric and that everyone autograph their block before turning it into Carol Deckert. One word of caution on the blocks – this quilt will be machine quilted and any embellishment may be stitched on – so stay away from crystals, beads, etc. Any other questions, contact Carol Deckert.

Des Moines AQS Show
The AQS Show in Des Moines was a lot of fun, well organized and tough on the budget! I hope if you went, you enjoyed it as well.

Meeting Treats
Since my birthday is in October, I’ll bring the “treats” for the October 27 meeting.
See you then!
Deb
